I enjoy working closely with my clients and their families as I help them through an extremely difficult time. Our clients are facing huge challenges and I like to think that I can provide a sense of comfort in navigating their new reality. I fight hard to get them the best outcome possible.
Weitz & Luxenberg is excited to welcome Jessica Russell back to our knowledgeable and skilled, specialized Mesothelioma and Asbestos Practice Group litigation unit. Ms. Russell is a member of our New York team of attorneys.
“I’m glad to be back with Weitz & Luxenberg doing what I love most — meeting with clients and their families,” says Ms. Russell. “I enjoy working with my clients from their first meeting all the way through their deposition and beyond. Wherever they are is where I will be in a moment’s notice.”
As a national firm, Weitz & Luxenberg has offices across the United States. At any one time, we are sending out attorneys to wherever we’re needed to meet with clients — Alabama, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Wisconsin.
“Weitz & Luxenberg is absolutely one of the best firms out there,” confirms Ms. Russell. “Our firm has been handling asbestos exposure and mesothelioma cases for more than 30 years.
“We meet our clients where they need us to go. I’ve met clients in hospitals, their homes, even coffee shops. I want to make the whole process as comfortable for our clients as possible,” add Ms. Russell.
“Weitz & Luxenberg functions so impeccably to serve our clients due in part to the specialized departments that ensure that every aspect of each case is executed perfectly. We all work together. This is how we are able to achieve the best outcome for each client and their family. I love being a part of the team.” explains Ms. Russell.
“Traditionally our cases involve multiple defendants. Not just two or three, but 20 or more,” points out Ms. Russell.
“In shipyards, for example, our clients may have been exposed to asbestos through boilers, valves, pumps, and numerous other pieces of equipment and products. All of the different companies should have taken measures to ensure our clients’ safety, but they didn’t. They should be held accountable.”
“The experience of filing a lawsuit and going through a deposition can be hugely overwhelming for our clients. I want to make sure our clients know I’m with them the whole time. They don’t have to face this situation alone,” declares Ms. Russell.
“When one of our clients is diagnosed with mesothelioma, we work tirelessly to figure out who is responsible. Our clients absolutely deserve the most compensation we can possibly secure on their behalf,” says Ms. Russell.
“Mesothelioma is a devastating and aggressive cancer, one that could have been prevented.”
“We may not be able to undo the damage inflicted on our clients, but we will do everything we can legally to help our clients receive the compensation they and their families deserve.”
Ms. Russell has more than a decade of asbestos exposure and mesothelioma litigation experience. She first joined Weitz & Luxenberg’s Mesothelioma and Asbestos Practice Group litigation unit in 2007, not long after earning her J.D.
She had recently moved to New York City and had just passed the bar when we first hired her. She worked at W&L for roughly two years before leaving for another position.
“The law firm I went to is a much smaller firm,” explains Ms. Russell, “and they also handle asbestos exposure and mesothelioma cases. Working there gave me a different perspective and I appreciate the experience and skills I acquired.
“A few years ago I met my future husband and after dating long distance I made the move to Arizona to be with him. Now, I’m thrilled to be back with Weitz & Luxenberg, working from Phoenix. I love working with clients in this area as well as traveling all over the country to meet with new clients,” Ms. Russell says.
“I get to do what I enjoy most. For me, it’s always been about working with families and helping each and every family member facing huge obstacles. I earned my bachelor’s degree in social work and knew that when I earned my law degree, I wanted to do whatever I could to help people who were facing unimaginable challenges.”
When she’s not working, Ms. Russell enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs. She also loves to run, hike, and swim. Although she misses New York City, she’s having fun learning how to live in the desert and checking out all Arizona has to offer.
Ms. Russell is licensed to practice law in New York. Her admission is pending in Arizona.
She earned her J.D. from the University of Denver’s College of Law in Denver, Colorado, and her B.S.W. from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.
Jessica Russell will be happy to review your case.
