Weitz & Luxenberg attorney Ellen Relkin will speak about the latest developments and best practices for Mass Tort litigation at both the American Bar Association (ABA) 2019 Section of Litigation Conference and the New Jersey Association for Justice (NJAJ) Boardwalk Seminar 2019 this May.
“I applaud both the ABA and the NJAJ for organizing a platform for judges, attorneys, and members of academia and the media to come together and discuss the latest in mass tort decisions, strategies, and best practices” said Ms. Relkin.
At the ABA Section of Litigation Conference, Ms. Relkin will be part of a distinguished Mastering Mass Tort Settlements panel featuring attorneys, judges, and academics exploring the techniques in the settlement of high-stakes mass torts. Ms. Relkin will discuss successful strategies, innovative solutions, and lessons learned from her experience resolving some of the most complicated mass torts cases arising in the U.S. judicial system, including the DePuy ASR and Stryker Rejuvenate implant litigations, where the two settlements together exceeded five billion dollars.
In addition to those litigations, Ms. Relkin is presently a member of the Opioid MDL Executive Committee, the Plaintiff Steering Committee of the Xarelto MDL, and the Stryker LFIT MDL Executive Committee, as well as lead counsel in the recent Multi-County Litigation in New Jersey against the manufacturers of Stryker LFIT cobalt chromium femoral head hip implants.
The ABA Litigation Conference will be held from May 1 to 3 at the New York Marriott Marquis in midtown Manhattan. Ms. Relkin’s Mastering Mass Tort Settlements seminar will take place on Thursday, May 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The following week, Ms. Relkin – an executive committee member of the Board of Governors of NJAJ – will also co-chair the Mass Tort Seminar at NJAJ’s Boardwalk Seminar 2019. The Mass Tort event is just one of 32 seminars being offered at Boardwalk 2019, a three-day conference taking place from May 8 to 10 at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In addition to serving as co-chair for the Mass Tort seminar, Ms. Relkin will provide an update of Mass Tort litigation in New Jersey. The program will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.
