Biography

I’ve always wanted to make a tangible impact. I saw the way my parents worked with families through their law practice. Ever since, I’ve found myself seeking opportunities to help families, especially during the really challenging times they are facing. It’s a privilege to be given the opportunity to work alongside attorneys who are equally dedicated to helping clients and their families harmed by asbestos exposure.”

Callum Armijo is an associate attorney in Weitz & Luxenberg’s California office. He joined our asbestos team in 2024 after being admitted to the California bar.

Helping W&L clients in our asbestos practice group is an ideal fit for Mr. Armijo. He comes from a family and is surrounded by attorneys — but not just any attorneys. Small town attorneys who have dedicated their lives to helping families in their own community. In fact, Mr. Armijos’s parents invited clients into their living room.

W&L Is Client Focused

Mr. Armijo admires Weitz & Luxenberg partly because of all our firm does for its clients. He says that’s been his aim all along. He wants to work with a team dedicated to making a real difference in real people’s lives.

As he explains, “Especially with asbestos, when we’re helping a client, we’re really helping the whole family. And when we achieve fair and just results, we’re helping everyone whose life is touched by our client. The impact is immediate.”

Getting to Know Our Client One on One

“Spending time really getting to know our clients is everything,” says. Mr. Armijo.

He continues, “We need to get a sense of the big picture as well as all the details that are part of that picture. That’s key to achieving the best possible outcome.”

Mesothelioma Can Take Years to Show Up

“The latency period is really long for mesothelioma. That’s why it’s so important to spend as much time with our clients as possible,” points out Mr. Armijo.

As he describes it, “A client’s initial asbestos exposure might have been decades ago. And then 40 or 50 years later, he finds out he has developed mesothelioma. It’s up to us to do everything we can legally to make sure we don’t miss anything. A small detail can make a big difference.”

Before joining W&L, Mr. Armijo especially enjoyed working with the Lanterman Special Education Law Clinic in Los Angeles. As Special Education Advocate Extern, he was responsible for up to a dozen special education cases for families with children that have developmental disabilities. He played a key role in working with families and school districts to address each child’s individual needs.

Earlier, Mr. Armijo served as a Board Agent Student Intern with the National Labor Relations Board, Region 21 in Los Angeles. His job involved collaborating with a supervising attorney to investigate labor relations cases.

Mr. Armijo also worked with the U.S. District Court, Central District of California in Los Angeles. He served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Judge John A. Kronstadt.

Shortly before joining that court, Mr. Armijo also served as a judicial extern with the Los Angeles Superior Court. He reported to the Honorable Judge Alexander Giza.

On the Personal Side

Mr. Armijo earned his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, also in Los Angeles. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California San Diego in La Jolla. Mr. Armijo is licensed to practice law in California.

Mr. Armijo enjoys spending time with his partner and their fish. He has a passion for building and maintaining aquariums — self-sustaining eco systems. He also enjoys camping, hiking, and ocean kayaking.
