There are some companies out there that treat people like dollar signs. All they care about is making money. When we take them to court, all they are thinking about is how they can pay out the least amount of money possible. We have no intention of letting that happen at Weitz & Luxenberg. Kristen Grimes is an associate attorney in Weitz & Luxenberg’s Environmental, Toxic Tort & Consumer Protection unit. She joined the firm in the fall of 2025.
She is involved in our firm’s litigation efforts against the Roblox Corporation for its many offenses, including its roles in facilitating illegal gambling for minors and child sexual abuse. Ms. Grimes is also involved in the class action lawsuit against Primo Brands water delivery service for its deceptive business practices. In addition, Ms. Grimes is active in our ongoing litigation against the weed killer Roundup, for causing non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Fighting for What Matters
“Working at Weitz & Luxenberg is such a privilege. It’s incredibly motivating to be fighting for clients. And to be on the right side of history. I’m definitely someone who appreciates fighting for the little guy,” Ms. Grimes emphasizes.
Ms. Grimes has been working with clients ever since she joined W&L. “That’s the most important thing. Everything in my work as an attorney and at W&L is client centered,” she says.
Helping People Drives Her
“In my undergraduate studies, I majored in psychology. I knew I wanted to continue working closely with clients and building upon my advocacy skills. Completing a year of service with AmeriCorps was a turning point for me,” Ms. Grimes states.
“As a corps member I assisted in addressing educational disparities amongst economically disadvantaged youth. Students needed someone to stand up for them. I loved that work.”
She adds, “That’s what inspired me to go to law school.”
Connecting with Clients
“The most important part of what I do is connecting with clients. It’s my purpose as an attorney,” Ms. Grimes says.
Ms. Grimes speaks with clients one on one. When it comes to certain points in our cases, she may need to call them with follow-up questions and address their concerns. In our Roblox Child Sexual Abuse cases, that might be parents, but it also might be their children. “Particularly when working with children, I want them to feel comfortable. I talk about whatever they want until they’re ready to tell me their story,” Ms. Grimes shares.
“What I love so much about the practice area of environmental pollution and consumer protection, in particular, is the possibility that our work will have an impact on people across the country.”
Investigating Laws Nationwide Helps Our Clients
“One of the things I appreciate about my work at Weitz & Luxenberg is handling estate law. For example, our litigation against Roundup involves exposure to the toxic ingredient, glyphosate, which causes our clients to develop Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma,” Ms. Grimes continues.
“Sadly, our clients sometimes die of this cancer. When that happens, a negligence or product liability case becomes about filing a wrongful death lawsuit.”
Ms. Grimes adds, “These kinds of cases are incredibly complicated. Every state has its own specific laws. It’s up to me to investigate these laws and find ways to move through the legal process as quickly as possible. Ultimately, I want to secure the best outcome for our clients and their families in the event of an untimely death.”
Getting Her Legal Education
Prior to starting her legal education, Ms. Grimes was a paralegal and spent two years at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. She then obtained her Juris Doctor in the spring of 2025.
Ms. Grimes is licensed to practice law in New York. Ms. Grimes earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in New York City. She achieved her B.S. in psychology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
On the Personal Side
Outside the office, Ms. Grimes enjoys going to the gym, strength training, and collecting vinyl records.
