How KCIC Ranked W&L #1 for Asbestos Injury Filings

KCIC’s ultimate goal is to inform defendant companies of expected asbestos injury claims in the future. KCIC tracks filings across the country among some of the most successful firms out there. (2)

KCIC publishes an annual report based on data it collects across the country. KCIC’s injury filings data gathering is the closest thing this country has to a comprehensive database of asbestos exposure filings. No official database exists. However, KCIC believes its organization analyzes around 90% of all the nation’s filings regarding asbestos exposure and talc related personal injury. (3)

Asbestos Injury Filings Are Becoming More Concentrated in Certain Jurisdictions

Overall, KCIC data suggest the total number of asbestos exposure injury filings will decline slightly in 2026 compared to last year. However, filings are becoming more concentrated in “a smaller number of jurisdictions.” Also, a handful of plaintiff firms are notably expanding their filing activity. (4)

Both mesothelioma and lung cancer continue to rank as the largest disease categories for reported asbestos injuries. Filing activity is expanding in lung cancer litigation. (5)

Why Families Turn to Weitz & Luxenberg’s Asbestos Attorneys

According to KCIC’s 2026 Mid-Year Asbestos Filings Update, Weitz & Luxenberg ranked first among U.S. law firms for asbestos injury filing activity during the first half of 2026. The report analyzed filing data collected through June 2026.

For nearly four decades, Weitz & Luxenberg has made it our mission to help victims of asbestos exposure and their families. Our asbestos attorneys represent people diagnosed with serious asbestos-related diseases, including mesothelioma, an aggressive cancer caused by asbestos exposure.

What makes this reality so heart breaking is that this aggressive cancer, which often targets the lungs, is actually highly preventable. That’s right. Preventable, but only if companies had chosen to do the right thing.

But they didn’t. And it would have been so easy to warn their employees about the dangers of asbestos exposure. They could have taken proactive safety measures. But, no, most of these companies put their profit margin first.

This cruel indifference is what led to Weitz & Luxenberg’s founding. It’s why we’re still here today. As long as there is a fight to fight, we’ll be in it. We are here for the families who are stricken with a mesothelioma diagnosis, or any other severe asbestos-related disease.

The proof of our commitment is in our record. So far, we have achieved billions of dollars in settlements and verdicts on behalf of our clients who are victims of asbestos exposure.
