Home Firm News W&L Named to Top 500 by National Law Journal for 2025

Weitz & Luxenberg was named to the National Law Journal’s (NLJ) 2025 list of the Top 500 law firms by Law.com. NLJ notes, “The NLJ 500 is the ranking of the nation’s 500 largest firms based on headcount.” (1)

This year, W&L ranked #404 with 98 attorneys at the firm. Notably, the firm’s ranking has risen since 2023 when it ranked at #421. (2)

Our clients’ injury and negligence cases are impacted by the size of the law firm representing them. Clients count on W&L because we have substantial resources, a deep knowledge base, and the experience to support successful outcomes for their cases.

W&L attorneys understand big corporations have access to exclusive law firms, yet ordinary clients do not have pockets that run so deep. When big businesses provide products that harm people, these companies turn to dozens of attorneys from these powerhouse firms.

At W&L, we believe our clients deserve the best possible chance of obtaining their well-deserved compensation. We take on these giants, and we win!

Other law firms view W&L as a formidable opponent. Our reputation of consistent success, dedication, and commitment assures our clients that other firms know we have the size to sustain a lengthy litigation process. W&L sees client cases through from filing, to settlement, to trial, and even through the appellate process, if necessary.

W&L attorneys are among the best legal talent available. Our team members share our firm’s dedication to ensuring clients get the best outcomes possible. Our attorneys collaborate with their highly skilled colleagues, sharing similar goals and ideals.

Defendants learn quickly that W&L won’t be pushed around. This puts us ahead of smaller personal injury firms. And we are tenacious. We leave no legal stone unturned, because our clients are our priority.

Clients Are Primary

It is truly an honor and a privilege to be among the nation’s largest law firms. However, what is most important to us is that our clients remain our primary focus.

Individuals, families, and small businesses can rarely afford the big gun law firms. Yet, with the W&L personal injury team, you can hire the equivalent without having to pay upfront.

Our purpose as a law firm has always been to help people who cannot help themselves when they have been seriously harmed through the negligence of others. Our philosophy for decades continues; you only pay us out of any winnings we earn for you.

We have secured billions of dollars in compensation for clients over the years. This involves handling thousands of cases, and representing tens of thousands of people. Helping people who have been grievously harmed is what we do. It’s why we practice law.

NLJ Methodology

The NLJ 500 is an annual publication of ranked law firms, based on size and the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) attorneys. The report “offers data on where and how the country’s largest law firms are expanding or contracting.” (3) This information provides invaluable insights and analysis of industry trends.

The NLJ 500 list includes firms from all across the United States. Data collected is from surveys. For firms that did not participate in the survey, data was estimated based upon information available on websites and collected in American Lawyer Media’s Legal Compass database. These numbers are reduced by 5% to estimate average FTE lawyers. (4)

In the case of a tie, firms are ranked according to the number of partners. Ties at this level are then broken by total number of equity partners — their earnings of more than half their compensation come from firm profits. A majority of the firm’s lawyers must be U.S. based. Temporary and contract attorneys, as well as staff, are not included in the head counts. (5)
