Home Firm News U.S. News & World Report Best Law Firm List Includes Weitz & Luxenberg

Once again, Weitz & Luxenberg has been listed by U.S. News & World Report as one of the 2023 Best Law Firms in the United States. This listing is an important honor. We are grateful to our exceptional teams of attorneys and support staff for their continued dedication and hard work.

The rankings for 2023 include over 12.2 million evaluations. They encompass more than 115,000 individual leading attorneys representing more than 22,000 firms.

This year, 2,000-plus firms received a national ranking. Of those, only a quarter received at least one national ranking in Tier 1.

W&L Noted for Our Quality Law Practice

According to U.S. News & World Report, “Achieving a tiered ranking … signals a unique combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal expertise.” The ranked firms are presented in separate tiers. (1)

All of the named firms are recognized on both a national and regional based scale. Every firm that receives a tier designation reflects “the highest level of respect a firm can earn among other leading lawyers and clients from the same communities and practice areas.” (2)

W&L Ranks Both Nationally and Regionally Again

In evaluating law firms, U.S. News & World Report examines law firms based on the differing types of litigation the firm practices. Firms are also ranked on both a national level and regionally.

Once again, Weitz & Luxenberg is privileged to report that our firm placed at the top tier in several categories:

National

  • Tier 1 Mass Tort Litigation/ Class Actions – Plaintiffs.

Regional: New York City

  • Tier 1 Mass Tort Litigation / Class Actions – Plaintiffs.
  • Tier 1 Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs.
  • Tier 1 Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs.

How the Best Law Firms Are Chosen

To be considered for U.S. News & World Report’s Best Law Firms listing, every law firm must have at least one attorney who has been named in the current edition of Best Lawyers. Attorneys must be named in one of the U.S. News & World Report’s ranked practice areas, metro areas, or both.

Law firms must formally submit applications including:

  • Eligible practice and metro areas.
  • Law Firm Survey.

U.S. News & World Report sends email surveys to participating clients, their professional references, or both. Respondents address each potential firm’s:

  • Expertise.
  • Responsiveness.
  • Understanding of a business and its needs, cost-effectiveness, and civility.
  • Determination of whether they would refer another client to the firm.

U.S. News & World Report also collects data from Best Lawyers ballots.

Firms Are Ranked by Tiers

All of the data — both quantitative and qualitative — are combined into an overall “Best Law Firms” score for each law firm. Rather than ranking law firms sequentially, U.S. News & World Report uses a tiering system.

The number of tiers per practice area or metropolitan area ranking varies. The magazine uses the data it has on hand and goes from there.
