Colin Markel joined Weitz & Luxenberg as an associate attorney in our Liens and Subrogation Department in July 2021. With his background in business transactions, Mr. Markel has become a vital part of our team.
He doesn’t just focus on one specific area. Mr. Markel’s lien work at the firm touches and supports all of our firm’s litigation areas.
Working for Our Clients
Mr. Markel’s main responsibilities at our firm include managing communications and negotiations with all lien holders. He negotiates on behalf of our clients with many different parties.
Strategic Projects, Real Estate, and Vendor Experience
Mr. Markel served as manager of strategic projects for WeWork in New York City for more than two years. Notably, he significantly reduced operating expenses via contract renewal negotiations and management. He also worked at Cushman and Wakefield in New York City as an associate for a year. He conducted property oversight and vendor management, working on site with landlords, tenants, and vendors on construction and capital improvement projects.
Educational and Personal Background
He earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in New York City. While there, he served on the university’s Environmental Law Review publication.
He earned his B.A. from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he majored in politics. He also acquired minors in law and history.
Mr. Markel participates in community service with the organization Young Jewish Professionals. In his free time, he enjoys sports, movies, television, culinary pursuits, reading, and travel.
